Moan by Kenya Wright

Rating: 2 stars out of 5
Character composition: BW/WM
Released: February 23, 2016
Pages: 138
Purchase @: Amazon

Typically I am a pretty solid fan of Kenya Wright. She's an author who dares to take chances and has a voice that makes her writing stand out. While I still appreciate these qualities and the writer, I didn't love Moan. It fell short for me on many levels, which was disappointing because at the core of it there was a very interesting and bold story going on.

Deeper (Book One of The Deeper Chronicles) by Allyn Lesley

The cover of this book originally intrigued me enough to 1-click it on Amazon. Coupled with the story-line I felt pretty encouraged that I was in for some good reading time. Unfortunately, upon finishing the book I feel a little underwhelmed and "blah" about the story. Allyn  Lesley is a new author and Deeper is her Freshman outing.

What It's About
Deeper is about a school teacher by the name of Avianna "Avi" Linton. Avi is a woman who's trying for a fresh start by creating a quiet life for herself in New York. She has a past that she's not proud of and a mother that she avoids. Noah is a tough, wealthy, and not-so-good man who is considered by some to be the "King of New York" (not sure

Flower in the Desert by Lavender Parker

I am super excited about sharing my review of Flower in the Desert with all of you. This is surprisingly the first book that I've personally had the pleasure of reading by author Lavender Parker. So what made me pick up this one? There was just something about that cover and the title that just caught my attention. It's just that simple. And of course it didn't hurt that it is only $0.99! I one-clicked it and I am so glad that I did! I really didn't plan to read the entirety of this book when I downloaded it, but I was just a bit curious since my trigger finger didn't give me time to read the sample first. Once I started reading I found Flower in the Desert to be a very engaging and exciting book that I just kept on reading until the end.  But I'm jumping ahead of myself...

A Thief's Last Kiss by Chacelyn Pierce

The idea of a thief leading a dual life is an exciting concept for me and not a very common story-line in the IR  genre. Honestly, I don't think that I've ever read a story with a professional thief as a heroine in this genre before. Not only is the heroine a thief, but the hero is also. Basically, you have two individuals who are on the shady side of the law. So when I saw A Thief's Last Kiss I was curious and wanted to read it. Unfortunately, it failed to deliver the great story that I was hoping for.

A Brother's Honor by Brenda Jackson

Have I said how much I love Brenda Jackson? Okay, well here goes - When it comes to authors who write fabulous and non-stereotyped African-American characters, I love Brenda Jackson. Why I adore this author can be found in the pages of the book A Brother's Honor, which is the first book in the The Grangers series. If you've read my review of A Man's Promise then you already know that I read this series out of sequence and started with book #2 first. I was so taken with that book that I immediately 1-clicked book number one which just happens to be A Brother's Honor. As you can guess I wasn't disappointed and if anything I think I may have liked this book a tiny bit better than A Man's Promise and that's saying something.

A Brother's Honor introduces the readers to the three Granger brothers who couldn't be more different. The brothers live in

Ring the Alarm by Tara Ann Bradley

I have a lot of conflicting thoughts when it comes to Ring the Alarm, so to say that I've had a hard time writing this review is
an understatement. Let me try to explain why that is. The

Eagle's Heart by Alyssa Cole

Eagle's Heart is a romantic suspense featuring an African-American heroine and an Albanian hero. This book didn't spare a moment before thrusting me into the thick of things so
